Giving your scientific results exposure allows you to gain feedback and critical comments from your peers, and ultimately improve your work. It may also spark ideas for new or follow-up projects and pave the way for future collaborations.
ESHRE receives upwards of 2,000 abstracts to choose from for its annual meetings, and speaking opportunities are limited. If your study is selected , this can be a great addition to your resume because it shows the strength and potential of your work. To showcase your results in an oral or poster presentation is an important learning experience for all researchers. Another benefit is it allows you to attend the annual meeting, join interesting sessions and network with professionals in the field.

1. Why did you choose to submit an abstract to ESHRE’s annual meeting?
I have truly valued participating in ESHRE’s annual meetings previously, both as a presenting author but also not presenting. I have benefitted greatly from the meetings and numerous presentations and inspiring discussions. Therefore, I chose to submit abstracts to ESHRE’s annual meetings in 2022 and 2023. Both papers I presented were subsequently published in international journals.
2. How did you find the abstract submission process?
ESHRE’s submission process is straightforward, and I especially appreciate the informative abstract structure. The personal profile on the submission site also is a great help.
3. Were you surprised to be selected for oral communication?
I was very pleased to be selected for oral communication. Our large nationwide study contributed to a somewhat understudied field, so I believe an oral communication was well-deserved.
4. Was there feedback and discussion during your presentation at the annual meeting? Did these help you continue your research?
There was discussion and feedback after my presentation. The comments were highly valued and definitely contributed to my research progressing. For example, a Nordic partnership was suggested.
5. Why would you recommend submitting an abstract to ESHRE’s annual meeting and what advice would you give to anyone considering it?
ESHRE’s annual meetings are the largest in the field of human reproduction and where the latest research is shared between international experts, scientists, and other professionals . I would advise reading abstracts and articles published in Human Reproduction because the same format is used for annual meeting submissions . I would also recommend having your abstract read and proof-read by as many people (supervisors , colleagues who have previously submitted to the meetings or journal) as possible.
