Minutes of the Annual Assembly of Members, held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on Tuesday 9 July 2024 at 18.00 CEST.ย 

1. Minutes of the last meeting

The minutes of the 2023 Annual Assembly of Members, having been published in Focus on Reproduction, were unanimously approved by the members present.

2. Matters arising

There were no matters arising.

3. Membership of the Society

Membership of the Society (as June 2024) stood at 9,772. European members account for more than half (57%) the total. The top European membership countries are UK (799 members), the Netherlands (512), Spain (493), Italy (486) and Germany (433). India (822 members), similar to 2023, occupies the leading non-European place, with the USA represented by 384 members.

4. Society activities

The different activities of the society and their outcomes were briefly presented. The report entailed the annual meeting, campus workshops, E-learning, studies and data collection, guidelines and recommendations, accreditation and certification, research grants, exchanges with other societies, policy making, advocacy and European affairs, and the strategic exercise 2023-2027. The information is available in the slide presentation, as an annex to these minutes, as well as in the Annual Report of 2023.

5. Human Reproduction journals

Nils Lambalk, editor-in-chief ofย Human Reproduction, reported on the Human Reproduction journals. The information is available in the slide presentation, as an annex to these minutes, as well as in the Annual Report of 2023.

6. Financial report

Bruno Van Den Eede, ESHRE’s managing director, presented the balance sheet (income and expenditure) for 2023 and the budget for 2024.

The actual income for 2023 was 9,444,414.41 euro, excluding the exceptional financial income resulting from a change in the composition of the investment portfolio. The expenditures were 8,991,270.62 euro, resulting in a positive balance for 2023 of 453,143.79 euro.

The budget devised for 2024 projected an income of 9,878,780.00 euro, an expenditure of 9,792,798.42 euro and a positive balance of 85,981.58 euro.

Total capital at the close of 2023 stood at 20,889,221.76 euro, allocated to various funds, leading to the conclusion that โ€˜ESHRE is in very good financial shapeโ€™, reported Van Den Eede.

The financial report for the year ending 31 December 2023 and the budget for 2024 were approved by the Assembly members.

7. Honorary Members for 2025

The honorary ESHRE memberships for 2025 were Rene Frydman and Kay Elder. These honorary memberships were already approved during the General Annual Assembly in 2020 for the Annual Meeting in Paris (2021), which was transformed to a virtual event. Rene Frydman and Kay Elder will be awarded at the opening ceremony in Paris in 2025, a fitting opportunity for everyone to celebrate their awards.

8. Any other business.

There were no comments raised as any other business.

9. Date of the next Annual General Assembly

The next Annual General Assembly of Members will be on Tuesday 1 July 2025 at 18.00 at the Annual Meeting in Paris.
